US Rt 60 begins in Western Arizona and ends in Virginia Beach. For the run through West Virginia, It's known as the Midland Trail National Scenic Byway. Pass through Charleston heading Southeast and you come across the New River Gorge at Rt. 19 here in Hico and Country Road Cabins. Our private cabins are the ideal place for a quiet stay in one of the wildest outdoor recreation areas in the nation.
Country Roads Cabins is also situated perfectly for your explorations of the Midland Trail. To the West you'll find the State capitol, Advantage Valley and the Great Kanawha River Valley - areas rich in West Virginia's pioneer and industrial heritage. To the East you'll find the relaxed pace of the Piedmont with quaint towns dotted with historic sites from the civil war.
Here in the center of the state is where West Virginia earns it's reputation for being wild and wonderful. Experience family friendly thrills white water rafting on the New River or reach for the limit with class 6 runs on the Gauley. If you prefer to keep your feet dry, you might enjoy a Zip Line or ATV tour, hiking & biking along the Gorge, fishing, horseback riding... Travel Tip: Book a river rafting trip on the New River on Bridge Day. Bridge Day brings 10s of thousands of BASE jumpers and onlookers to the New River Gorge Bridge and you can take it all in from underneath the bridge as you float by. It's an experience not to be missed.
